Who We Support

Family Reunification

Together & Free was one of the first organizations in 2018 to swiftly take action by locating families, advocating for their release from detention and facilitating reunification caused by the federal government’s family separation policies at the border. What started as helping a couple hundred separated families in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, has bloomed into an effort that has helped over a thousand families.

As a critical partner in the Ms. L settlement and the Family Reunification Task Force, we have helped reunify over 1,000 families, ensuring access to flights, housing, food, legal support, and case management.

Today, we continue to serve the families impacted by this traumatic policy and have now expanded our efforts to support families separated by newer federal policies, including those who have been disappeared without due process.

Enforced Disappearances

Together & Free is committed to assisting families whose loved ones have disappeared under the expanded dragnet of immigration enforcement.

In March 2025, the U.S. government invoked the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) to deport over 250 Venezuelan men - many without any substantiated allegations - to CECOT, an infamous prison in El Salvador known for indefinitely detaining individuals and torturing them. By doing so, the US Government unconstitutionally deprived these men of due process.

Together & Free immediately set up an emergency hotline, through which we connected with over 140 families of these disappeared men. In the months since, Together & Free has continued to support these families by connecting victims to pro bono attorneys and coordinating with advocacy partners to seek legal relief.
